Dr. Samuel Lin, Double Board Certified Harvard Plastic Surgeon

In so many ways the new website complies with the medical web 2.0 technology through providing a way for patients to communicate and be able to interact with their physician through the web. The website provides full details on many aspects of the various plast surgery procedures conducted by Dr. Lin. It also provides the service of free online consultation and you can even schedule to meet Dr. Lin in person throught the contact us page.

An astonishing new feature that the editors of www.MedicalVideos.us like is that Dr. Lin’s website provides pages for international patients through which they can contact and interact with Dr. Lin for plastic surgery purposes: http://www.linplasticsurgery.com/InternationalPatients.aspx which we strongly encourage especially from Harvard surgeons

The website provides information starting from simple skin procedures up to complex plastic surgeries like nose and breast surgeries.

Egyptian Hippocratic Oath by Dr. Mostafa Farid

Dr. Mostafa Farid

Dr. Mostafa Farid

So a year passed already, wasn’t really as I expected … somethings were nice others suck..

at the end one needs to reach an important conclusion, What type of Doctor do I want to be?

by what type I don’t mean the specialty, but what kind of person !
the thing is behavior and attitude are infectious.. once you stick with a certain community of people you become like them..
and that’s not cool in medicine, cz most doctors I see nowadays in every branch are bunch of selfish ignorant assholes.
so allow me to put down some points or codes that I hope we can all follow..

1st of all, put in mind that a Doctor is a smart tolerant confident person, and to prove that, I’m sure everyone out there not in the field must have had a dream when he was a child that he’s a doctor that’s helping people.. so u must be really proud that u’re a doc. , I know I doesn’t seem cool from the inside but If you look out side the box, It’s pretty neat !! so congrats uve finished your internship year and u’re an official doctor.

so.. I’ll start putting down the rules now :

1- be Confident and proud of your self, not too confident and cocky, but to a limit that makes you shine like a star :) … comb your hair, dress professionally, buy a nice coat or scrubs, buy a fancy ink pen… you get the picture ;)

2- Knowledge, remember; that’s what It’s all about, people pay u for your consultation.. so how do I get knowledge ?
well, this time It’s different from the days back in med-school .. the GOLDEN rule in Attendance, no matter what your specialty is, the more you attend the more you see people do mistakes, you see decisions made by years of training, you see what’s common what’s not … etc.
there are other ways to gain knowledge.. like, asking the right question at the right time.. not an extremely general question (that’s probably answered in textbooks) or a highly specialized question (that’ll probably embarece the person ure asking), but the right question that will make you more clinically smart.. timing is also important, Never ask a person when he’s writing down something or when he’s getting a certain work done..

After attending for sometime at some place, you’ll be higher in the food chain (I mean there will be junior docs. beneath you)… try to transmit the knowledge you have to them, with total honesty and good willingness - try to a be a nicer doctor than the seniors who met you 1st :) … be a better man, a better mentor. (Respect the Juniors)

3- Remember that in your training journey, u train on real people not dummies.. they’re someones dad, mom, child, wife … keep that in mind, treat people the way you like to be treated and the way you like them to treat your family..
So don’t do procedures unless you know that ure totally qualified and safe, a senior back up is essential !!
Patients have the right to know their diagnoses, their treatment plans (in a way that they’ll understand - so be creative )
Also.. try smiling when ure greeting a patient, or talking to him… he doesn’t need to feel that he’s an obstacle in your busy schedule, remember thats what ure a doctor for.. helping people no matter who they are.
Be tolerant, Be forgiving, Be thoughtful.. Less selfishness, Less greed, Less irresponsibility !!!

- A point I have to mention (( always have pride that you’re an Egyptian, I know some of you now are saying Mostafa is acting big time, but seriously, I believe we’re the smartest toughest people ever, don’t think about leaving this country just for leaving it, leave it when you have no other choice, there are plenty of options here, just be optimistic and give it your best shot.. don’t set sail to a harbour you don’t know where it exists, EGYPT comes 1st believe me ))

4- Have fun !!! life isn’t all about working, we work to live and not the opposite..
Have hobbies.. I wouldn’t recommend deejaying thou :p
Travel on a regular basis …take a break, u deserve it.
stay in touch with your class mates (December 2008) … help’em out, make plans … Although I don’t feel it now, but I’m sure I’ll miss a lot of’em when It’s over :,(

5- Finally Always remember your old folks, your mom and dad..
Always make time for them
Never load them with your work stress
Involve them in your plans
Give them the good news
Ask them for their prayers
Make them proud
and Remember… they’re the reason, your a great kind person now !

Fibroids Today - Online Medical Consultation is going arabic

For years and years English has been the official language of Medicine. Even online most of the resources of medicine were exclusively in English.

Today while navigating as usual for the new medical websites I passed through “Fibroids Today”. It is an online clinic which was professionally and neatly designed by a group of consultants and doctors in interventional radiology and obs/gyn consultants.

“Fibroids Today” is the first online arabic clinic that I have ever seen offering free consultations for women suffering from fibroids and offer them the various options of treatment directing them to the right place in the right time.

From the technical point of view the website is neatly designed with an attached discussions forum for the live interactions between the patients and the consultants and all is in arabic.

We strongly encourage such websites because this is an extension of the message of medicine of providing honest treatment sources for the helpless patients.

Rosacea

rosacea
Rosacea is a congestive blushing and

flushing reaction of the central areas of

the face. It is usually associated with an

acneiform component (papules,

pustules, and oily skin). It usually

occurs in middle-aged and older people.

The cheeks, nose, and chin, on the

entire face, may have a rosy hue.

Burning or stinging often accompanies

episodes of flushing. It is much more

common than lupus erythematosus, with which it is often confused. Rosacea

is distinguished from acne by age, the presence of the vascular component, and

the absence of comedones.
